Group Against Smog & Pollution

Are you interested in getting more involved with GASP? With a limited staff, our dedicated volunteers make a real impact. Check out our video to learn more about our organization, and how you can help.

 

Volunteer opportunities include:

• Helping to plan special events

• Representing GASP at community events

• Working with our communications team to get the word out about air quality

• General office work like helping to stuff and label envelopes

• Helping to deliver air quality educational programs*

 

*Please note: Volunteers working with children will need valid PA Child Abuse and Criminal Background clearances  (PA Act 34 and 151).

 

We also have a few volunteer projects that require specific experience and a larger time commitment:

 

• Air Permits Clearinghouse Updates

            We’d like to add compliance data to the clearinghouse. Eventually we would like to move the entire clearinghouse into ArcGIS Online. Any person interested in helping with this project will need a good understanding of google maps and cloud platform and ArcGIS Online.

 

• Citizen Handbook Updates

            We’d like to update our 2012 Citizen’s Guide to Commenting on Air Permits for Oil and Natural Gas Facilities. This would be a job for someone who has experience with environmental legal work, or could be a good project for a student majoring in that area.
