About the event
Our friends at Communitopia are working in partnership with Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse in facilitating the Exploring Climate Change Through Art Teacher Workshop. Teachers participating in the workshop will learn to use art as a vehicle to educate their students on the solutions to climate change while repurposing discarded resources. Teachers will explore connections such as:
- Visual arts to build critical thinking and collaboration skills
- The use of theater arts to create sustainable behaviors
- Mindfulness and creativity
- Nature journaling that combines art and science to sharpen observational skills
The program includes two sessions and a brief independent project (climate change / art lesson plan) to be completed in between the sessions. Teachers completing workshop requirements will be eligible to receive one Act 48 credit (30-hours).
