  • American Lung Association Air Quality Site - In-depth information about indoor and outdoor air pollutants; their sources; strategies for protecting yourself from exposure to unhealthy air; and recommendations for ways your family can make a difference in pollution prevention.

  • Clean Air Council - Member-supported, non-profit environmental organization dedicated to protecting everyone's right to breathe clean air. The Council works through public education, community advocacy, and government oversight to ensure enforcement of environmental laws. Based in Pennsylvania and Delaware.

  • Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund - CELDF provides free and affordable legal services to grassroots, community-based groups and local governments working to protect their quality of life and natural environment through building sustainable communities.

  • CommuteInfo - dedicated to increasing the number of commuters in Southwestern PA sharing a ride to work. The goal is to provide viable options, incentives and encouragement so employers promote and commuters choose ridesharing at least twice a week.

  • Earth Island Journal - The Earth Island Journal, first published in 1982, has won significant acclaim for its groundbreaking coverage of environmental and social issues. Read about the "Donora Death Fog" in The Donora Fluoride Fog: A Secret History of America's Worst Air Pollution Disaster.

  • Earthjustice - Earthjustice is a non-profit public interest law firm dedicated to protecting the magnificent places, natural resources, and wildlife of this earth and to defending the right of all people to a healthy environment.

  • Greenpittsburgh.net - Pittsburgh Green Map, with information on southwest Pennsylvania's environmental, recreational, and cultural assets.

  • GreenWorks for Pennsylvania - GreenWorks shares informative and entertaining stories that explain the many roles that individuals play in caring for our world. By doing so, GreenWorks inspires people every day to take part in the effort to make our planet a cleaner, healthier and happier place for everyone.

  • Health and Clean Air Newsletter - An in-depth newsletter which makes technical air pollution information available to the lay reader without sacrificing accuracy. Read the article, "The Particulars of Air Quality" for a good overview.

  • Institute for Global Communications - non-profit website host

  • League of Conservation Voters - America's only political organization protecting the environment through electoral action and working to hold Congress and the administration accountable for their decisions.

  • League of Women Voters of Greater Pittsburgh - A nonpartisan political organization which encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.

  • Pennsylvania Environmental Network - PEN is an environmental justice organization consisting of a network of grassroots environmental groups throughout the state. PEN is a also clearinghouse for information and technical expertise on organizing and on various issues of interest to the grassroots.

  • Pittsburgh Region Clean Cities - PRCC raises awareness toward alternative methods of fuel use in vehicles and become less dependent on foreign fuel.

  • Power Plant Air Pollution Locator - An interactive website from Clear the Air that provides emissions and health effects data by individual power plant, city and state.

  • Power Scorecard - The Power Scorecard is a rating mechanism that assesses the environmental impact of different types of electric generation.

  • Rachel's Environment & Health Weekly - News and resources for environmental justice from the Environmental Research Foundation.

  • Sierra Club, Allegheny Group - The southwestern Pennsylvania chapter of the Sierra Club.

  • Surface Transportation Policy Project - A diverse, nationwide coalition working to ensure safer communities and smarter transportation choices that enhance the economy, improve public health, promote social equity, and protect the environment.
